Novelette: “The Touch of Iron”

They can steal everything but a will of iron.

I found the theme of Kipling’s poem “Cold Iron” compelling, but it wasn’t the story I wanted to tell.  The story I wanted to tell had juvenile delinquents, obstinate automobiles, and more Chekhov’s Guns than you can shake a fireplace poker at.  It’s also full of references to Celtic mythology, but you don’t have to know the finer points of pookas to enjoy the story.  (Not the warm, fuzzy pookas.  This is a story of the Fair Folk.)

So check out The Touch of Iron in the Baen Universe section of the November Grantville Gazette and let me know what you think!  And maybe keep some iron on you, just in case…
